DLM: a brief history.

Dirty Little Mouth is an exciting, genre-blending group from Dallas, TX.  They’ve fused a multitude of styles into a big virtuosic explosion.  Drawing on influences ranging from Zeppelin and Michael Jackson to Jane’s Addiction and Daft Punk, DLM has innovated an electrifyingly rocking new sound.

Friends and fellow audio engineers Matt Aslanian and Seth Falkner formed Dirty Little Mouth in 2007 while working at Maximedia Studios in Dallas, TX.  The two began writing and recording tunes in an effort to hone their production skills; little did they know these efforts were to become some of the first Dirty Little Mouth songs.  During the initial process Matt invited his high school friends, guitarist David Abrams and bassist Justin Haber to collaborate on the tracks.

From this point on, the band took take their efforts seriously and the lineup began to grow. Having an interest in female backing vocals heard in bands such as The Black Crowes and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Matt included supporting female vocal parts on some early Dirty Little Mouth tracks with the help of interested artists he’d meet at the studio. This evolved into a larger role for the background vocalists, eventually leading to them being permanent contributing members in the band.  Singers Whitney Wilson and Christina Williams (recently replaced by Jolene Hoadley) joined the band in January 2008.

After a year into writing and recording as Dirty Little Mouth, keyboard virtuoso Joslin Dsouza was brought on to the project.  David met Joslin while playing gigs together and invited him to add additional synth work to the Dirty Little Mouth tracks.  The musical chemistry was instant and Joslin became a permanent member.

In February 2009, with the EP “A Mouthful” finally complete, Dirty Little Mouth exploded on the North Texas music scene.  Their live show is high energy and polished: fans and journalists attest it packs a bigger punch than the already powerful studio recordings.  Fans and critics alike in DFW, Denton, and Austin have embraced Dirty Little Mouth.  The band has been playing to increasingly larger crowds and has garnered impressive headlining duties along with key main support slots for mid-level touring acts in a multitude of venues.  Dallas rock radio station KDGE and KEGL, both picked up “Undress Me,” playing the song weekly and helping build Dirty Little Mouth’s fan base.

In September 2009 Dirty Little Mouth added it’s most recent member: drummer extraordinaire Larry Clemon, Jr.  Brought on with a week to learn the entire DLM live set, Larry headed to the woodshed and emerged with an incredible first performance.  Heavily influenced by funk, gospel, and prog, Larry has added a fiery new dynamic to Dirty Little Mouth, filling their last remaining void and completing their lineup.

Looking into the future, Dirty Little Mouth plans to continue to build a fan base in North Texas and begin touring regionally in the Southwest, eventually moving to the West coast.  They have a new EP in the works slated for release in early 2010.  Expect big things from the unique 8-piece outfit. Help bring Dirty Little Mouth to your town for some freaky ear love!
